Police search for 6 inmates after escape from Yakima County Jail

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Authorities are searching for a group of inmates who escaped from the Yakima County Jail Monday evening.

The Yakima County Department of Corrections says it happened at about 7 p.m. when the inmates used a table to break open a fire door and then jumped over a fence.

A total of 12 inmates escaped. Six have been taken back into custody and six remain at large as of Monday evening, the department of corrections said in a release.
