Celebrating the best of the best

This May DOCs across the country celebrated their employees, recognized the highest achievers and also held ceremonies honoring those who have given their lives in the line of duty. COs, parole officers and other employees were honored for preventing escapes, saving lives, pitching in when needed and for many other brave and diligent actions.

These men and women serve as strong role models and are the epitome of what an employee, regardless of profession, should strive to be. Congratulations to all of you who have been honored for your hard work and dedication. Regarding Inquiring when hiring, 5/14/07

I enjoyed the interview of Barry Nadell. Staff continues to be the most invaluable resource managers have in the criminal justice field. Too often, staff vacancies are filled using lower standards than desired; usually done with good intentions to simply get the job done. Mr. Nadell brings to mind many valid points that (if applied) should bring more stability within the correctional setting.

Regarding Psychotropic complications, 4/29/07

Great article this hits home to my department. The cost for meds. for the mentally ill is in the millions and my department is feeling the hit.
