| Inmate escapes a medical furlough in Tuscaloosa |

The Alabama Department of Corrections is asking the public to be on the look out for escaped inmate Tommy Jordon Mims, 51. Mims was on a medical furlough in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday, January 5, when he was not accounted for during a head count. Mims is described as 5'11" tall, weighing 172 lbs. with green eyes and brown hair. Authorities say Mims escaped in civilian clothes, he was not in the standard white Alabama prison uniform.
